Non-Surgical Treatments for Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by excessive sweating, usually in areas where there is a high concentration of sweat glands such as the hands, feet, armpits and the groin area. Excessive sweating can even occur when temperatures are cooler or at rest.
It is estimated that two to three per cent of the population suffers from hyperhidrosis, with less than 40 per cent of those affected seeking medical advice.
Excessive sweating, also known as Hyperhidrosis can profoundly affect self-consciousness and be a seriously embarrassing condition. When severe sweating interferes with daily activities, it can cause great emotional and psychological upset, especially when it is excessive sweating from the underarms.
Our patients seeking treatment for excessive sweating may be frustrated that anti-perspirant just is not working; they may be constantly worried that people might notice their sweat stains, or they may refrain from buying certain clothes as they fear they will be ruined by their underarm sweat.
At Zest Clinic, our practitioners are highly experienced in non-surgical procedures, including hyperhidrosis treatment. If you are considering treatment for excessive sweating then the first step is to book in for an initial consultation.
There are a range of treatments for excessive sweating which will be explained to you by the consultant, but a common, non-surgical treatment for hyperhidrosis is to inject the area with botulinum toxin (Botox). This is an effective temporary solution for excessive sweating because botox is a natural protein and obstructs the signals to perspire from reaching the sweat glands.
